SMU University Application 2026-2027
SMU online application for the 2026-2027 academic year will be open from the 1st of April 2025 and close on the 31st of July 2025 for undergraduate and MSc (Clinical Psychology) qualifications and the 29th of August 2025 for postgraduate applicants. Prospective students are to go to the official website of SMU to download the online application forms and fill them out by providing all necessary and required documents, and submit them before the submission deadline.
All aspiring applicants applying for admission to study at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University for 2026, both South African students and international applicants, are to pay a non-refundable application fee of R300. At SMU, applicants are allowed to apply for a maximum of two qualifications, first choice and second choice. However, the University gives priority to first-choice applications because of the high number of applications that are received.
Applicants may select up to two study choices at SMU. If you are applying for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, separate applications are required, along with the necessary supporting documents for each. However, only one nonrefundable application fee of R300 is required; be sure to use your ID number as the payment reference.

The online applications for the 2026 academic year across all programs at SMU will open on 1 April 2025. Applicants are to take note of the following closing dates:
- Undergraduate Programmes and MSc (Clinical Psychology): Applications close on Thursday, 31 July 2025.
- Postgraduate Programmes (excluding PhDs and Masters by Research): Applications close on Friday, 29 August 2025.
