The online application window for the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University for the 2026-2027 academic year will officially open in April 2025.
To allow sufficient time for application processing and planning for both the university and applicants, online applications for early admission in 2026 should be submitted by the following deadlines:
- 30 June 2025: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm), and Bachelor of Radiography (BRad).
- 1 August 2025: Early applications (excluding MBChB, BPharm, and BRad).
- 30 September 2025: Late applications (excluding MBChB, BPharm, and BRad).
- 30 September 2025: International student applications.
- 30 September 2025: All student housing applications.

Applicants applying for admission into the 2026-2027 academic year at NMMU must meet the following requirements and also provide the following documents:
Your online application form must be accompanied by:
- A certified copy of your final Grade 11 exam results or;
- A certified copy of your most recent Grade 12 (June/Sept) exam results (no March results), or
- A certified copy of your matriculation certificate/statement of results if you have already passed Grade 12/completed schooling,
- Certified copies of your diploma/degree certificates plus academic record(s) and certificate(s) of conduct if you have studied elsewhere,
- A certified copy of your ID (birth certificate if still waiting for ID),
- A certified copy of the identity document of your parent/legal guardian/surety,
- Declaration by your parent / legal guardian / surety if you are a dependant, or currently at school, or studying at a tertiary institution, or have recently left school and do/will not have permanent employment when applying or studying at the University.
Admission Considerations:
- If your Applicant Score (AS) and subject-specific pass marks do not meet the direct entry requirements for your chosen programme, you will need to select an alternative qualification. Admission tests are no longer conducted.

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Application Fee 2026-2027
- International applicants applying for admission into the academic year 2026 at NMMU must pay a non refundable application fee of R500 however, South African citizens who are applying online will not pay any amount as application fee., it is absolutely free.
